Since becoming Japan's first manufacturer of needle roller bearings in 1959, Nippon Thompson has built a global reputation as an innovative producer of high-quality and precision bearings. Leveraging years of expertise and technology in needle roller bearing manufacturing, the company has developed a range of linear guide units that combine carriages and rails.

Since introducing its first linear recirculating guide, known as the Linear Way, in 1978, these products have become essential components in industrial robots, CNC machine tools, and other advanced equipment used in the semiconductor industry. For particularly demanding applications, Nippon Thompson has developed a comprehensive range of stainless-steel products with special lubrication, designed for clean room environments.

In addition to its range of needle roller bearings, IKO excels in the production of precision cross roller bearings, a compact and technologically advanced solution for applications such as rotary tables, indexing systems, one- or two-axis milling heads, and robotic arms.

Nippon Thompson’s products are manufactured in nine facilities in Japan and marketed domestically and internationally under the IKO brand. The company’s domestic sales and service network includes nine branches and fifteen sales offices. Internationally, Nippon Thompson is supported by an integrated network of distributors, sales agents, and subsidiaries in the United States and Europe.

The European subsidiary, Nippon Thompson Europe BV, is headquartered in the Netherlands, with branch offices in Germany, Spain, France, and the United Kingdom. The branches in Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom have their own warehouses and facilities for customizing linear motion products to meet customer requirements.
