Precision locking nuts for bearings
Precision locking nuts are mainly used to restrain and preload angular contact bearings in spindles and recirculating ball screws.
IBC and GMT precision locking nuts feature a highly-precise finish combined with an effective axial locking system.
The most common nut locking solution is obtained with a set of threaded dowels, which act directly on the inserts, placed in direct contact with the threaded surface of the spindle shaft.
An alternative to locking nuts, in this case no longer rigid but flexible, is obtained with hex bolts that operate on opposing sections of the same nut. The perpendicular precision, measured between the thread on the nut and its support surface, is between 0.002 and 0.007 mm as a function of the nut design dimensions.
